Sometimes, I wonder, as perhaps you do, if World War II still holds relevance for us today. With just a handful of centenarian veterans still alive and only their children eager to pass down these stories, I often find myself questioning my own mission of writing about this era.

However, as someone from the 'second generation'—with parents who lived through the war—this history is still deeply personal to me. Over the years, I’ve realized that my true passion lies in the stories of women who found themselves in extraordinary circumstances. Women who, without any formal military training, made the radical decision to leave the safety of their homes or offices to risk their lives in the fight for freedom. These are the women who fascinate me—those who joined resistance movements, embodying courage and survival instinct at a time when society expected them to remain in the background.

I’m endlessly captivated by female courage in wartime, and that’s where I find my inspiration—first through my fictional heroines in The Resistance Girl Series, and now in the remarkable true stories of the 39 women of SOE’s French Section in Timeless Agents. Through these stories, I hope to bring to light the powerful and often overlooked contributions of women who knowingly risked everything to fight for peace.

My novels invite you to rediscover these forgotten heroines, not just as figures of history, but as sources of inspiration in our modern world. Their fight against Nazi Germany is a reminder of how fragile peace can be—and how vital it is to stand up for what you believe in.

But my books are also an escape, transporting us to a time when we were young, fearless, and filled with hope—when we still believed in happy endings. By the way, I still do! 😊
